WeHo Pride Presents Friday Night at OUTLOUD Music Festival is a free, open-to-the-public concert in West Hollywood Park that marks the beginning of WeHo Pride activities. Beginning in 2023, it has become a beloved yearly tradition within the community.

Now in its third year, WeHo Pride Presents Friday Night at OUTLOUD Music Festival continued to refine and polish its brand, becoming a well-known and cherished event open to everyone.

Lip-Sync Battle Royale

With the battle in its second year, the City of West Hollywood wanted softer language with the same brand recognition, so Lip-Sync Assassin Battle became Lip-Sync Battle Royale. In that spirit, we upped the spectacle: three performers instead of two, a celebrity host, and a surprise guest judge in Paris Hilton, with the winner ultimately declared to be the friends we made along the way.

The second annual WeHo Pride Presents Friday Night at OUTLOUD Music Festival utilized the newly established WeHo Pride Universe Brand Guidelines updates, giving this event its own aesthetic. Headlined by Kesha, in her first live performance as an independent artist, and WeHo’s first Lip Sync Assassin Battle, Friday Night garnered national press and became a beloved Pride institution.

To boost buzz and stretch a city marketing budget, I created the Lip-Sync Assassin Battle: a semi-choreographed, elimination-style performance battle inspired loosely by RuPaul's Drag Race, starring Emmy-nominated season 16 contestant Morphine Love Dion and season six's Laganja Estranja. It worked well enough to become an annual franchise..
